Utrata połączenia z repozytoriami przy ściąganiu aktualizacji

Zacznę od tego, że jestem świeży w temacie linuxa, zainstalowałem go na swoim netbooku pare dni temu i wcześniej nie miałem z nim styczności.
Problem polega na tym, że gdy chcę zainstalować jakąkolwiek aktualizację czy nowy program, system ściąga pierwsze kilka-kilkanaście plików, po czym przestaje widzieć repozytoria. Gdy to następuje, internet przestaje całkowicie działać (przeglądarka również), mimo, że w statusie połączenia sieciowego (przewodowego) twierdzi, że jest połączony. Nie ma reguły co do tego na którym pliku się wywala, jest to przypadkowe. Po restarcie systemu odzyskuję łączność z siecią, mogę normalnie korzystać z przeglądarki, do czasu gdy nie spróbuję znowu ściągnąć jakiegoś pakietu.
Obecnie zainstalowanego mam Minta 10 pl, ale wcześniej próbowałem też instalować (po kilka razy) inne dystrybucje i działo się to samo za każdym razem. Stąd moje założenie, że problem może być natury sprzętowej, co wydaje mi się nieco dziwne, bo netbook jest prosto ze sklepu.
Przy próbach aktualizacji z konsoli przez apt-get update i apt get-upgrade dzieje się to samo. Pobiera pierwszy update, po komendzie apt-get upgrade ściąga kilka plików i traci połączenie.

Sprzęt z którego korzystam to Acer Aspire one D255E.

Byłbym wdzięczny za wszelką pomoc w tej kwestii, bo w zasadzie uniemożliwia mi to korzystanie z oprogramowania.

EDIT:  Wydaje mi się, że problem może leżeć w sterowniku karty ethernet. Wygląda to tak, jakby rozpoczęcie pobierania plików powodowało jakieś przeciążenie w karcie która się wywala. Udało mi się ustalić, że moja karta obsługująca ethernet to Atheros 8152, podejrzewam że problem może wynikać z niestabilności sterownika albo coś w tym rodzaju? Nadal jednak nie wiem co z tym zrobić. Gdy udostępniłem połączenie z komórki przez USB wszystko ładnie działało.

Chyba udało mi się rozwiązać problem ściągając i instalując z konsoli sterownik do karty ethernet. Od tej pory nie wywaliło połączenia. Nie mam jednak stuprocentowej pewności, bo nie instalowałem aktualizacji od tego czasu, zainstalowałem je wcześniej korzystając z sieci przez usb. Ale przy ściąganiu pakietów programów nie było problemu.
