Problem z wifi po zainstalowaniu Mint Xfce

Witam,
Zainstalowałem na starszym laptopie HP Pavilion Minta Xfce i pojawił się problem. Otóż Mint nie wykrywa żadnych sieci wifi. Z tego co zauważyłem to są w laptopie dwa urządzenia "network".
1. BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY Broadcom Inc. and subsidiaries
2. RTL8111/8168/8211/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller Realtek

po zainstalowaniu aktualizacji (połączyłem się poprzez smartfona - Tethering USB) i w Menadżerze sterowników znalazło mi sterownik broadcom-sta-dkms jednak po zastosowaniu zmiany nic to nie dało. Próbowałem jeszcze na podstawie znalezionych w necie instrukcji zaintalować sterowniki Realtek ale nic to nie dało.


Proszę o pomoc, komputer chciałem przygotować dla starszej osoby, żeby tylko internet czasem mogła przeglądać.

Nie ma jakiegoś przycisku od włączania wifi? Bo według tego co system podaje jest zablokowane fizyczne.

Jest nad klawiaturą taka świecąca dioda w symbolu wifi i to jest chyba dotykowy przycisk (HP Pavilion dv5). Jednak po dotknięciu palcem nie włącza karty wifi, dioda świeci się ciągle na czerwono, przy uruchamianiu komputera był moment, że świeciła się na niebiesko, jednak po chwili znowu się świeci na czerwono. Dzwoniłem na serwis HP i nawet człowiek próbował mi pomóc, ale dla nich to już taki stary sprzęt, że oni w serwisie to nawet dokumentacji chyba nie mają do takich starszych laptopów.

łączyłem się z internetem przez smartfona (Thethering USB i kablem USB) i internet dość spoko chodził. Zastanawiałem się nad Xubuntu lub Mint Xfce, Wybrałem Minta bo na innym (starszym) laptopie instalowałem Cinnamona i dobrze działa i mi się ten Linux bardzo podoba. Widzę, że na tym Pavilionie ten Mint Xfce też bardzo dobrze sobie radzi, jednak przez ten problem z działaniem wifi to może być kolejny sprzęt na śmietnik Łączenie przez kabel odpada a naprawa w jakimś serwisie komputerowym może być zbyt kosztowna co ten laptop jest warty.

Wifi to pierwszy problem, kolejnym będzie karta graficzna do której sterowników już nie ma. Miałem laptopa z tego samego okresu, z kartą graficzną z tej samej serii tylko mocniejszy model. Bez sterownika internet na nim będzie działał tragicznie.

Na razie jak korzystałem z tego świerzego Minta Xfce na tym nieszczęsnym Pavilionie to grafika działała dobrze. Póki co.

Przyszedł mi do głowy temat, żeby zamiast wifi wbudowanego w laptopie, bo te nie wykrywa sieci wifi, żeby kupić kartę sieciową wifi USB i podłączyć pod USB. Czy to dobry pomysł z kontekście Minta? Sterowników? Może są jakieś takie karty wifi USB zgodne z Linuxem? Dało by się?
